Piece by Piece i build myself. until i am ready to walk out and say hello

Mel and I Did this project in our second month of Florence. More than the final product I remember Mel coming up the stairs with a suitcase of her stuff and being so thrilled by the fact she was as excited to photoshoot as I was. I remember listening to Taylor Swift while she explained to me the things she brought. We laughed and danced around as I snapped photos of her, creating this little love child. I am so impressed with her ease in front of the camera and how effective this project was as a conduit of connection and friendship.

The concept was that a girl who is stripped and bare, Natural and somber would be surrounded by the clothes and objects taht represent her identity. She would proceed to evolve using these identity-tools until she felt ready to go out and meet the city, or rather, for the city to meet her.

Clothes as armor. They are protection. Building blocks of personhood. When I may feel hesitant, how can I use clothes to unlock my authenticity?
